The Terminal sandbox environment contains anonymized data from a real fleet, allowing you to test the full scope of Terminal’s platform in a production-like environment.

This sandbox environment is designed to provide developers with a comprehensive testing ground that closely mimics the behavior and data structure of the live production environment. By using the Terminal Sandbox, you can thoroughly validate your integration without the risk of affecting real-world operations.

How to Access

All Terminal customers have full access to the sandbox environment. To access the sandbox:

  1. Log in to your Terminal Dashboard.
  2. Locate the environment switcher in the top right corner of the dashboard.
  3. Ensure the switcher is set to Sandbox.
  4. Get your sandbox keys here

Key Features

  1. Realistic Data: The sandbox is populated with anonymized data from an actual fleet, ensuring that you’re working with diverse and representative datasets.
  2. Full API Access: Test all Terminal API endpoints and functionalities available in the production environment.
  3. Safe Testing Environment: Experiment freely without the risk of impacting live data or operations.
  4. Consistent Behavior: The sandbox aims to replicate the behavior of the production environment as closely as possible, including rate limits and error responses.
  5. Data Refresh: Sandbox data is periodically updated to ensure you’re always working with current and relevant information.

Best Practices for Sandbox Usage

  1. Always test your integration thoroughly in the sandbox before moving to production.
  2. Use the sandbox to simulate various scenarios and edge cases.
  3. Familiarize yourself with any differences between sandbox and production environments.
  4. Regularly update your test suite to cover new features and endpoints as they become available.

While the sandbox provides a close approximation of the production environment, there might be slight differences in performance or data availability. Always perform final validation in the production environment before full deployment.

Differences from Production

  • Terminal Link: In the sandbox environment, the Terminal Link will accept any credentials.
  • Passthrough: The Passthrough Endpoint isn’t functional as our system doesn’t communicate with any providers in the sandbox environment.
